This is a very lightweight, smooth silk with a delightful design of sketches and Japanese characters in subtle shades of brown and cream. This would have been produced for an under-kimono (juban) or for the lining of a kimono. For patchworkers, the little postcard sketches would be great for applique on a Japanese quilt.
