I import these hangers from Japan and they are designed for displaying and hanging kimono.  The 'arms' of the hanger extend to display the kimono sleeves properly and there is an additional bar for hanging an obi if you wish.  I use one myself, in fact every kimono on the site is photographed hanging from one!
