This bag is made from 'nankeen', a method whereby a paste is painted through stencils so that when the cotton is dyed, and the paste washed away, a pattern appears. This nankeen was bought for me from a small studio in Shanghai, one of the few places where nankeen is still produced in the traditional way. The bag is lined with cotton and has in inside pocket. It is big enough to carry plenty of shopping and sturdy enough to last.

The top of the handles are approximately 15" from the top of the bag, so plenty of room to hang the bag over your arm.
