Kasuri kimono cotton 038

This is a premium quality cotton with a light blue/grey background and woven stripes of chocolate brown and indigo blue.  Within these stripes is a design worked in the 'kasuri' technique, whereby groups of the warp have been gathered before weaving and tied at intervals so that the dye is resisted.  When the ties are removed, the cloth is woven and the design has slightly fuzzy edges where the threads shift slighty.
